Sometime ago we reported they were planning to reboot Brandon Lee movie “The Crow”. As fans of the original movie we were firmly set against this, most especially with the then attached Brandon Cooper taking the lead. Thankfully he removed himself from the project, much to our relief, and The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media then busied themselves arguing over distribution rights.
Naturally I was relieved and it looked like the rebooting plans were dead in the water.
Sadly, it appears, they are back to life. According to Get the Big Picture the respective companies have now set aside their differences and the movie is back in production.
The lawsuit between Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company concerning The Crow has been amicably settled out of court, and the parties will continue to work on the film together as planned. In addition, Relativity Media has dismissed all of its claims against The Weinstein Company for any wrongdoing regarding the release and distribution of Nine, and The Weinstein Company has dismissed all of its claims against Relativity Media. I honestly cannot bring myself to give this movie further consideration. It seems that Hollywood is relying on the constant rebooting of previously successful movies and backing out on anything remotely original. Yawn. Another movie to give a wide wide birth to at the cinema!

Even though it could be like beating a dead horse, a remake could only work with a lead that could bring life to this role. Someone new and exciting like Aidan Turner (Being Human, UK). He’s sizzling hot and will be getting a lot of attention via the release of “The Hobbit” later this year.
The sequels to The Crow were severely lacking across the board but the first of the movie, the final movie Brandon Lee ever made was not. Aidan Turner, awesome young actor as he is, could not drag me to the cinema to see a remake from this franchise.
